A Filipina domestic helper in Hong Kong is currently comatose after suffering from a stroke.

According to the Philippine Consulate General (PCG), the 42-year-old woman fell into a coma following a stroke in Pok Fu Lam. She was rushed to the Queen Mary Hospital in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The Filipina, identified as Lernie S.B., is currently under close observation following the unfortunate incident. Within a span of weeks, there are already three Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who suffered from a stroke in Hong Kong.

“She is comatose and is at the ICU after she had brain surgery. She is also using a ventilator for her breathing,” says one of the PCG official.

According to reports, the employer of Lernie was the one who brought her to the hospital and underwent a CT scan to examine her properly.

“The doctors decided afterward that she had to undergo an operation. They again conducted a CT scan after the surgery. She is still unconscious,” the PCG official, who do not wish to be identified.

It was also found out that Lernie is already taking maintenance medicine for high blood pressure.

“According to her friend, who is also hypertensive, (Lernie) was not able to take some of her medicine recently,” says the official.

One of the siblings of the Filipina will fly to HK but the news of her hospitalization was kept from her mother as she alsohas a heart ailment.
