A Filipino was included in the tragic road accident claiming the lives of its 17 passengers in Dubai. Her identity was finally identified.

Marie January Ventura Gallardo, 37-years-old, left behind two children when the bus she was riding encountered a road mishap during the Eid holidays in Rashidiya.

Her identity was clarified after her younger brother stepped forward early morning on Monday. It is said that the tourist bus was from Muscat, Oman when it crashed into a height barrier last June 6, taking away the lives of 17 people out of the 31 people who were inside the bus.

The Filipina is a resident in Oman, who works as a physical therapist in JalaanBani Bu Hassan located in South Sharqiyah, Oman for about a year already. She went to Dubai for Eid holidays to visit her sister-in-law when the road mishap happened.

Until Sunday, the identity of the Filipina remains unclear, said Philippine Consul-General Paul Raymund Cortes as she was just known as the woman who died on the spot.

“Finally, the next of kin has officially identified the remains of his relative here at the Dubai Police headquarters morgue. The family wishes for their privacy to be respected and has declined to give further details,” says Consul-General Cortes.

“The Philippine government will extend all necessary assistance to the family, particularly in terms of the documentation and the eventual shipment of remains of the deceased back home to the Philippines,” he added.

The family of the victim was already notified in the Philippines and her remains will be repatriated soon after everything gets completed.
