Most of the time, mothers prioritize the needs of the family, leaving them restless and stressed. This shouldn’t be the case.
Giving mothers a time for herself which is called “momcation” offers a lot of benefits not just for herself but for the entire family.
Dr. Nava Silton, Associate Professor of Psychology at the Marymount Manhattan College said these things:
“Motherhood can be very stressful – whether it’s financial stresses, time stresses, just trying to get a whole lot done in a very short period of time. I think it’s really important for mothers to be rejuvenated and refreshed.”
This so-called “momcation” is a stress-reliever for moms. However, the psychologist claims that this “momcation” can help improve the relationship of a family.
“It’s very important for kids to see that balance that ideally needs to be achieved in a family situation,” says Dr. Silton.
Unfortunately, most moms will surely feel guilty of leaving behind their family even just for a short while to take this much-needed stress. But to mother who had the chance to experience this well-deserve vacation, they fully agreed to what doctors said.
“I came back and I was a better mom. A more patient mom. A better wife. You learn to appreciate what you have at home because you got that break from all,” says Judy Khosh, mother of two who experienced momcation.
Without a doubt, mothers experience a lot of stress, be it at home or at work. If you ever decided to work, when you arrive home, you still have to deal with house chores and give time to your children, which doubles the responsibility and the stress as well. For mothers who stay at home, they have to deal with everything, starting from the kids to the entire housework. Therefore, having this “momcation” is not just a stress-reliever but will also help in improving her for the sake of herself and her family.
