Following a heart attack, a Filipina domestic helper fell into a coma. However, the Philippine Consulate in Dubai didn’t forsake her and offered as much help as possible.
According to reports, the Filipina was left alone by her employer in the hospital and a Filipina nurse working in the said hospital was the one who reached the family of the OFW.
A media outlet, BITAG, coordinated with the Philippine Consulate in Dubai following a report from the victim’s mother. According to Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes, the OFW has an insurance plan since she was employed but unfortunately, the hospital won’t honor her insurance plan.
“The Philippine Consulate General is in touch with the family of the overseas Filipino and has provided its assurances that it will extend fullest appropriate assistance to the overseas Filipino. It is also in direct contact with the DFA as well as our Regional Office in Calasiao Pangasinan so that updates are provided these parties regularly,” says Cortes.
Cortes also promised that they are willing to help especially to Filipinos who are experiencing unsuitable working conditions.
“The Consulate also reiterates that it does not discriminate between immigration status of overseas Filipinos when providing the necessary assistance. We provide assistance to every Filipino even if the status is tourist or resident,” says Cortes.
The Consulate will also provide updates regarding the condition of the Filipino.
