An insurance program from the Social Security System (SSS) that seeks to help terminated workers including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW).
This new insurance seeks to provide assistance to those unemployed members who just lost their jobs. The primary requirement to avail the program is to be an SSS member and should be a contributor for at least 36 months and should not be older than 60-years-old.
Once approved, the SSS member can avail of 50% salary bracket. Currently, the minimum salary bracket is PHP2,000 with a required contribution of PhP80 and the highest is PHP20,000 with the required contribution of PHP800.
If you are a minimum contributor, you will receive PHP1,000 for two months while the highest contributor can have as much as PHP10,000 for two months.
“Short-term lang ito. Financial assistance during the time na nawalan sila ng trabaho,” says an SSS official.
Requirements to avail of this program are two valid government IDs, and a notice of termination which should be bankruptcy, retrenchment, and redundancy. Those employees who were forced to leave their work because of bad treatment can also avail of the insurance policy.
“The employee can just execute an affidavit of termination that he was forced to resign due to unbearable treatment,” says DOLE.
For OFWs and household workers, they can avail of this policy as long as they can present a certification form the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
