In the midst of the ongoing protest in Hong Kong, there are Filipino tourists who got stranded in the airport barring them to return to the Philippines and even preventing them to contact their relatives.
A crying Filipina was seen on a video which was posted online. She is inside Hong Kong airport where flights are cancelled due to the ongoing protests in the country.
According to the Filipina, she’s been stranded in the airport and was forced to travel from one airport to another just to look for a flight back to the Philippines.
She’s crying really hard due to her current situation and can’t even contact her family in the Philippines.
“I just want to go home,” says the Filipina.
According to Consul Sheila Mondero-Arnesto, the situation of Filipinos in Hong Kong remained stable but the consulate wants to practice safety precautions to avoid complications.
Arnesto also said in an interview that there are thousands of Filipinos in Hong Kong and 210,000 of it are working as domestic workers.
It can be recalled that a Filipino who was just walking was arrested by Hong Kong police as he was alleged of joining the protest.
“Kapag hindi naman po pumunta sa protest areas ay hindi naman po sila masasaktan. ‘Wag po magsuot ng black and white colors na damit,” says the consul.
