The bad-treatment of Filipino domestic helper does not particularly center in Saudi Arabia. There are also other Middle East countries that are known for its huge OFW population, most of which are victims of illegal recruitment and bad treatment by their employers.

A Filipina domestic helper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates finally arrives at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office after being badly treated by her employer and leaving her in an unknown place.

According to GMA News, the Filipina and her employer had disagreements that resulted in physical ill-treatment. The OFW decided to leave and be sent to her agency.

However, instead of sending her back to her agency, her employer left her in an unfamiliar place and her important documents such as passport and also her baggage were taken away from her.

Thankfully, a fellow OFW was able to help her and was taken to the POLO office.

“Hindi ko na po iniisip ‘yung mga nangyayari po sa akin. Basta po safe po ako dito. Maraming salamat po talaga dito sa Polo-Dubai,” says the OFW.

According to a survey, there are currently 2.3 million OFWs as of 2018, 15.7 percent of which are working in the United Arab Emirates. Other popular OFW destinations are Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Taiwan, and Qatar
