A Filipina mother got the surprise of her life when an unknown donor shouldered the medical bills of her baby who was born prematurely.

A whooping DH60,000 was the hospital bill of Filipina Louie May Taboclaon as her daughter Ahliya Faith was only born when she was just 28 weeks and weighing only 700 grams. A well-known company in UAE paid the medical bills of Ahliya through the appeal for the help of Gulf News.

In the first month, the insurance was able to cover the baby’s stay in the hospital costing Dh180,000. However, her coverage was used and they had to pay the remaining hospital bill amounting to Dh60,000.

Louie works as a manicurist and her husband Reynandel Rosario works on events management. Though they already signed a cheque for the payment of the medical bills, they are certain that they couldn’t pay it off because she only earns Dh5,00 a month.

“We were so grateful to these people for helping us,” says Louie. “They paid everything and this helps us so much. At first, we thought we were going to be in trouble for not being able to pay but this has answered our prayers, so I thank them so much.”

Baby Ahliya remained in the hospital until she gains 1.8 kg. Currently, she is only 1.1 kg which means that she will be staying in the hospital for another month. This will cost another Dh51,000, a huge amount that her parents didn’t know where to get.
