The remains of the second victim of the Singapore car crash finally arrived in her hometown yesterday, January 3.

The family of Abegail Leste welcomed the new year with tears on their eyes as they saw their loved one already inside a plastic-covered coffin.

From Ninoy Aquino International Airport to Macanaya village, Aparri, Cagayan Province, Jhef, the son of Leste accompanied her mother into their hometown for the very last time.

In a Facebook post, Jhef shared how saddened he was to travel with his mother for the last time. He also thanked all those people who helped in the repatriation of the remains of her mother.

Leste is among the OFWs in Singapore who encountered an unfortunate accident when a car lost its control and crashed into a group of OFWs near Lucky Plaza Mall last Dec. 29. This mall is a popular destination among Overseas Filipino Workers during their free time and day-offs.

Meanwhile, Jhef claims that his mother went home in time for their New Year’s celebration.

“We do not know what to do now. I will miss you and I love you more than anything,” says Jhef to his mother.

“We all feel shaken or inwardly torn, and it’s the most awful feeling I know,” says Dang Pilotin, one of Leste’s friend.
