In the case of mandatory repatriation of Filipinos in Middle East countries, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) ensures that they are willing to assist in returning OFWs.
OWWA Administrator Chief Hans Cacdac said on Tuesday that the Department of Labor and Employment’s Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan (TNK) will be readily available for Filipinos returning from the Middle East in case the conflict of US and Iran escalates.
This “Trabaho, Negosyo Kabuhayan” program of the government was organized through the help of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
“[It] seeks to reintegrate or to facilitate the employment of our citizenry. Sabini Sec. [Silvestre Bello], in-instruct yung (Secretary Silvestre Bello already instructed) relevant agencies to be there, to be part of the repatriation process, so that our workers, even before they come home, they are already guided by the TNK process,” says Cacdac in an interview.
He also said that Filipinos returning to the country will not have to worry about losing their source of income as the country has a lot of job opening for Overseas Filipino Workers. The TNK personnel is also willing to assists OFWs when obtaining these jobs.
“May mga (there will be) key employment indicator. Merontayong jobs portal, dun makikitayung vacancies (We have job portal where they can see available job vacancies). Job fairs will be facilitated and conducted,” says the OWWA Chief.
The only challenge over this program is how it can match international wages which are given to OFWs.
“They are home, they are with their families, wala pong kapalitnaperayun (it’s priceless), they can start a new life. Busisness opportunities are plentiful here these days,” he said.
