A local airline in the Philippines promised to provide free airfare to Filipino workers in the Middle East trapped in conflict-torn countries.

According to the spokesperson of Cebu Pacific Charo Logarta Lagamon, the airline has confirmed they are available in providing free flights. The airline is operating an international flight to Dubai.

Just recently, it can be recalled that President Duterte ordered a mandatory evacuation of Filipino workers in Iraq and Iran after the attacks of 2 US bases in Baghdad.

As of the moment, the repatriation process is being “mapped-out” by the government’s concerned agencies. This move is to help secure the safety of Filipino workers in the Middle East, says the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.

According to reports, the government is aiming to move the Filipinos in the Middle East to countries that are safe as tension strikes both the US and Iran.

“Right now, the concern is the evacuation of these Filipinos to a safe place,” says Palace spokesperson Salvador Panelo. “The President has ordered the mandatory evacuation of Filipinos in those areas so they will be safe and out of harm’s way.”

Additionally, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said in an interview that they are willing to send military ships, air assets and a battalion of soldiers to rescue Filipinos in the Middle East.
