A Filipina domestic helper in Kuwait revealed that a certain agency makes an auction of domestic helpers where employers are allowed to pick the helpers who will be serving them inside their residence.

According to Bombo Radyo Koronadal, an OFW from Kuwait revealed the trend of picking a domestic helper whilst seeing these people like “ukay-ukay” that employers can collect and select. They are like auctions items where employers are given the capability to choose whom they desire.

Susan Dubria, the OFW who confessed to this kind of activity in Kuwait said that she left her employer and thought that she will be returned to her agency. However, she was sold to another agency worth KD800.

Dubria was then taken to another employer whom she didn’t know. She became afraid of her welfare as she does not have an agency to turn on in case of emergencies.

There was also one time wherein the OFW’s employer accused her of duplicating the key to their house. She denied the accusations but her employer refused to believe.

Dubria sent a reminder to all aspiring OFWs to have a strong heart and mind if you really want to succeed while working in a foreign land. This is necessary to avoid all sorts of bad-treatment perpetrated by heartless employers.
