A Filipino national is being detained in Bahrain for allegedly taking the life of a Pakistani national, GMA News reported.
According to the report, President Rodrigo Duterte met the family of the accused just before his flight to Leyte for the distribution of benefits given to former rebels.
It is said that the family of Roderick Aguinaldo will travel to Bahrain and President Duterte personally sent them off at the Villamor Air Base. The wife, daughters, and parents of Aguinaldo will be visiting the accused as they were granted a visit by the Bahraini government. Aguinaldo is serving a jail term for three years following the incident.

According to the Palace, the family of Aguinaldo already seek the help of Go since 2018 when he was still working as a Special Assistant to the President.
“After consulting the matter with President Duterte, the latter appealed to the Bahraini king to commute Aguinaldo’s sentence. The Bahraini government vowed not to carry out capital punishment,” says in a statement.

The reason behind the incident involving Aguinaldo and the Pakistani man remains unknown.
