The international furniture brand, IKEA, will soon open its very first branch in the Philippines this coming 2021, according to their website.

“Come 2021, we will open an IKEA store in Pasay City to give millions of Filipinos easy access to a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low almost everyone will be able to afford them,” says the Swedish founded furniture retailing store.

It can be recalled that IKEA first announced there soon to open store last 2018. Back then, they have projected that their store will open up in 2020.

“We’re a bit late on the ETA but if it’s going to be the largest IKEA store in the world at 65,000 square meters — almost equivalent to 150 basketball courts — then OK,” they said.

Currently, IKEA is busy “building up their business and learning about life at home in the Philippines.” They also promised to showcase 8,000 home products to make the lives of Filipinos even more comfortable.

Previously, they also mentioned that they will source organic food from the Philippines but for their furniture, the materials will not be sourced locally as they fear that locals cannot scale up against global operations.
