Even Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who earn foreign currencies also have difficulties in life. However, this must not be an excuse for committing crimes against the law. In Hong Kong, they are not lenient when it comes to enacting punishment for crimes like thief or pickpocketing. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of Filipino workers there who tend to underestimate the justice system in Hong Kong.

A Filipina in Hong Kong who works as a domestic helper is facing theft charges after allegedly taking $79,000 (PhP513, 065) worth of gold ornaments from a local resident.

The Filipina identified only as R. Nisperos appeared in the court before Magistrate Joseph To as the reading was read in front of her. She was not able to appeal for a plea as the investigation is still ongoing and the number of stolen items is yet to be confirmed.

According to the prosecution, the incident happened last year, between Dec 22 and Feb 2 inside the house of Li Chung-yin at Cheung Sha Wan, HK. The relationship of Nisperos to Li was not mentioned.

The theft case of Nisperos will be adjourned by Magistrate To on Mar 11 and Nisperos will remain in custody until such time.

The reason behind the actions of Nisperosis yet to be identified.
