The total lifting of the deployment ban created quite abuzz online especially due to the fact that newly-hired domestic helpers are now allowed to work in Kuwait. We all know that domestic helpers are vulnerable to bad treatment of their employers, the reason why the deployment ban was imposed.

However, it seems like Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III found a way to avoid bad-treatment among Filipino domestic helpers. We are not talking about the standard employment contract which was recently signed during his visit in Kuwait but a rather “amusing” solution.

“Huwag naman kayo magpadala ng mga household service workers nakasing ganda ni Maam Lucy,” says Bello pertaining to Lucy Sermonia, the viral “Lady in Red” who took the attention of the public during the signing of the Standard Employment Contract in Kuwait.

This goes to show that the Filipino household workers that should be deployed in Kuwait are those less attractive and beautiful so as to avoid bad-treatment among their employers.

In fact, there are a lot of female employers who hurt their domestic helpers because of jealousy as their husband treats their domestic helper differently.

Bello uttered these words during the announcement on the lifting of the deployment ban in Kuwait. If his thoughts were correct, then the solution to the long-term problem of maltreatment among domestic helpers can end sooner than expected.
