The first-ever OFW hospital in the Philippines will soon rise in Pampanga as the funds for the construction have been allocated.

To better serve Overseas Filipino Workers and their dependents, the Philippine government funded the construction of the OFW hospital dedicated to responding to the medical needs of every OFW.

The hospital will be located at the two-hectare lot at the provincial Engineering Office Compound in San Fernando, Pampanga. The lot was donated by the Provincial Government.

Present in the occasions were government officials, namely; Governor Dennis Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda, Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) Chairperson Andrea Domingo, and Bloomberg Executive Director Filipina Laurena were there on the signing of the memorandum of agreement over the construction of the OFW Hospital which is allegedly worth P500 million.

The hospital is capable of housing 100 patients on its finish date in May 2021.

Former President and Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was the one who appealed to the House members to continue the funding of the medical facility, especially in the provision of enough staff to attend to the needs of OFWs admitted to the 100-bed hospital.

“As recommended by the Department of Budget and Management, a law is needed for the continued funding of this OFW Hospital and Diagnostic Center,” says Arroyo.

Over the years, more similar facilities will be established in Visayas and Mindanao.
