The Department of Foreign Affairs are already preparing for the repatriation of Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong.

Amid the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Philippine government decided to repatriate Filipino domestic helpers who were relieved from their work due to COVID-19.

In his Twitter account, Foreign Affairs Secretary conveyed his dismay regarding Hong Kong employers.

“When the West turned on China for COVID-19, I stood up for her because of the vicious West at the ASEAN-COVID 19 MEETING. I said that I begged my President to let Filipino domestic workers return to their jobs in HK showing my trust in the Chinese city. This is I guess is thank you,” says Locsin.

It is also said that even after Locsin asked the employers of Filipino domestic helpers to be understanding, they still refused to accept the workers back.

“We’ll prepare for their repatriation pronto. Deeply disgusted with HK wch begged us to let domestic workers return to work. I extracted promise from Chinese ambassador that they’d be given same protection from COVID-19 as HK residents. I shoulda specified “from Hongkongers.”

In the news outlet, China Morning Post, it is said that the domestic helpers were removed from their work because they still insist of going out during their day off amid the outbreak.
