A warning has been raised by Filipina domestic helper after she fell prey to pickpockets in a busy shopping mall in the Central last May 1.
According to Gretchen Sumay, she went with her mother to the World-Wide House in Central to purchase food from a shop located on the first floor. The shopping arcade was packed with people as it was a statutory holiday.
Inside her coin were her HKID, Hang Seng ATM card, and cash amounting to $650 (PhP4,226) since the full salary that she just received was left at home.
“Hindi man kalakihan yung nawalasa akin…pinaghirapan ko yun, kahit ano pa anghalaga,” says the Filipina.
They immediately reported the incident at the roving security staff and they were accompanied to the establishment’s management office.
However, Sumay was disappointed with the management since they refused to share with her the picture of the person who returned the wallet as the amount is “too little”.
On the way to the exit of the establishment, they saw a Filipina who also lost a wallet with cash amounting to $1,000 (PhP6,500) as well as her HK ID.
Beware potayo,” Sumay said as a sort of advice.
