A Filipina worker in Hong Kong lost her life after she lost consciousness and hit her head on the floor of the comfort room.
According to reports, the deceased OFW was identified as Estrella Dofredo, from Ilocos Sur. Dofredo has been working in Hong Kong for 20 years.
It is said that Dofredo went to the Plaza for her day-off last week. While inside the comfort room, the OFW suddenly lost consciousness and hit her head.
Dofredo was immediately taken to the hospital but eventually passed away after four days. According to the information released by the hospital who handled the case of the OFW, Dofredo encountered severe bleeding on her brains. She had a brain aneurysm.
Moreover, the family of Dofredo is asking for help for the immediate repatriation of her remains.
“Pursuant to Republic Act No. 11400 o yung tinatawag nating Bayanihan To Heal As One Act, valid pa yung kaniyang OWWA membership. AS to the social benefits, may makukuha ang kaniyang pamilya depende kung ano ang ikinamatay niya,” says Loreta Vergara, Head of Welfare Assistance Unit of OWWA Region 1.
But due to the pandemic, the repatriation of the remains of the OFW will be delayed for one month.
