An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Saudi Arabia succumbs to her illness without even personally seeing her family in the Philippines.
Marcela went to Saudi Arabia to work and provide for the financial needs of her family in the Philippines. She left the country still strong and healthy but unfortunately, she will return to her family already inside the coffin.

Marcela was admitted to the hospital because she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. A group dedicated to helping distressed OFWs tried to help Marcela’s repatriation in the Philippines so she can be with her family in the last days of her life.
Unfortunately, the repatriation took some time and money. It is said that Marcela needs to occupy 6 seats of the airplane since she couldn’t sit anymore and needs to lay down throughout the entire flight.

Marcela needed SAR30,000 (approx. 388,759) for her plane ticket thru the Philippine Airlines. This huge amount is hard to raise especially in the time of the pandemic. This issue hindered Marcela to return home.
As days go by, the health of Marcela deteriorated. And thru a video call, she was able to see her family in the Philippines before she passed away.
Laban lang po OFW Marcela.. We are doing our best na makalikom ng pangbili ng ticket ng eroplano para makauwi ka…
Condolence to the bereaved family of the OFW.
