An investigation is being conducted by UAE authorities following the passing of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who jumped of a building allegedly to escape some local police.

The said incident happened before dawn of October 25, in the neighboring emirate of Dubai, Sharjah.

Philippine Consul General of Dubai confirmed that such an incident really happened and that they are already in contact with the family of the victim as they set to repatriate her remains.

“We have reached out to the family. We will work on the shipment of remains pending investigation by appropriate UAE authorities po,” says Cortes.

It is said that the Filipina, 40 years old, fell from the 6th-floor building situated in Al Majaz. Police were notified of the incident and they arrived at the scene around 3 a.m where they found the woman already lifeless. The remains of the Filipina has been ordered to be sent to the crime laboratory so as to identify the real cause of her death.

According to local reports, the Filipina was staying illegally in an apartment building together with an Arab man. The owner of the apartment was then notified of such an incident. When the owner arrived, he found the two as they enjoy shisha.

Soon the police arrived following the call from the owner. So, in hopes of escaping from the police, the Filipina jumped off the building.

Meanwhile, the Arab man is under police custody.
