Once again, Senator Richard Gordon has appealed once again to review the COVID-19 testing at airports for arriving OFWs as they are being charged a very high.

It is said that in exchange for COVID-19 testing to be released in the next 24 hours, OFWs have to pay P20,000 per test.

“May testing centers sa airports na nananamantala sa ating OFWs, charging them as much as P20k for COVID testing with result after 24hrs,” says Gordon.

This high payment for a much less waiting time is like taking advantage of OFWs amid the pandemic. Because of this, the senator asked the Department of Health to look into it as soon as possible.

“DOH must do something abt this. Kawawa ang mga kababayan natin. Sila ang laging agrabyado. Pag may kalokohan, hulihin! Wag magbulag-bulagan,” says Gordon.

It can be recalled that Senator Gordon previously made headlines when the operation of the Philippine Red Cross was halted due to PhilHealth’s unsettled debt amounting to more than P1 billion. Gordon is the current chairman of the Philippine Red Cross.
