Justice has finally been served to the Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who was tortured to death by her female employer in Kuwait out of jealousy.
According to ABS CBN News, the Kuwait criminal court finally handed the death verdict by hanging today, December 30, to the Kuwaiti employer of Jeanelyn Padernal Villavende.
Meanwhile, the male employer of the victim and also the husband of the female suspect was sentenced to imprisonment for four years because he covered up and didn’t report the crime immediately to the authorities.

According to Atty. Sheikha Fawzia Al-Sabah, the Philippine Embassy lead counsel, the ruling of the court which was handed today was ‘fair and in compliance with the law and Sharia”.

Also, the Philippine Ambassador to Kuwait Mohd Noordin Pendosina Lomondot rendered his heartfelt thanks to the Kuwaiti government and to Sheikha Fawzia who fought for the justice that the Filipina surely deserves.
It can be recalled that the Philippines was rocked with the news of Villavende’s brutal passing last year. Her death aroused anger among fellow Filipinos and prompted the implementation of the deployment ban to Kuwait.

According to the autopsy report, Villavende suffered from “acute failure of heart and respiration as result by (sic) shock and multiple injuries in the vascular nervous system.”
