The Philippines was rocked with another news of an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who was brutally killed abroad.

This is not the first time that an OFW returned to the Philippines already inside the coffin. However, the death of Mary Anne Daynolo is so tragic that her family couldn’t help but cry for justice.

According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, the remains of Daynolo is in a very pitiful condition. The Filipina was reported missing for 10 months and on January 19, her remains were found because of the confession of her perpetrator.

When the remains of Daynolo were exhumed from the crime scene, it was in the late stage of decomposition.

“Talagang advance stage of decomposition na. Kaya nga gusto ng pamilya ipa-DNA test din para masigurado talgaga na si Mary Anne yun,” says Bello during a media briefing.

“Mukhang naging biktima rin ng sexual assault si Mary Anne kaya Kailangan alamin sa autopsy and other means of medicolegal processes,” Bello added.

The initial report states that the OFW was stabbed in her neck by the suspect and was then buried by three people. As of the moment, only one suspect was arrested and the accomplices is still being hunted.

“Nasira na yung bungo niya. Nawala na yung mga ngipin, hindi na halos makilala, naagnas na talaga ang katawan nang matagpuan,” says Bello.

The remains of Daynolo was immediately repatriated last week. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) promised to help the kin of the OFW.
