“Crime of passion’ – this is how the police describe the crime that involved an Overseas Filipino Worker who recently returned to the country and her husband.

According to reports, the husband of the OFW runs amok thinking that his wife is in quarantine with another man.

The incident which took place in a quarantine facility in Barangay Mambog, Oton, Iloilo, took the life of a barangay tanod identified as Noli Legada, 55. Meanwhile, the wife of the suspect identified as Mylene Peronse is in critical condition following the incident.

According to Punong Barangay Vanessa Salinas, the suspect identified as 30-year-old Melchor Amigable who works as a utility at a hospital in Molo, Iloilo tried to take the mobile phone of his wife who is in quarantine but she refused to comply because of the strict quarantine protocol implemented throughout the country.

On multiple occasions, the husband tried to enter the quarantine facility to check on his wife whom he suspects to be with another man inside the quarantine. His efforts to enter the facility were useless because he was blocked by a barangay tanod guarding the area.

Frustrated that he couldn’t enter the facility, the suspect returned now carrying a 12 gauge shotgun which he used to fire on the barangay tanod and his wife.

The barangay tanod passed away on the spot and the OFW wife of the suspect was taken to the hospital but suffering from a critical condition after sustaining injuries all over her body.

Meanwhile, after committing the crime, the suspect immediately fled the crime scene using a motorcycle.
