No one wants to lose sight, no matter your age and circumstances in life. It’s as if you are robbed of your chance to have a normal life and spend happy days with your friends and loved ones.

But the chance to live a normal life was taken from an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Dubai after she experienced an acid attack way back in 2018.

Recently, the story of Annalyn Macarandan was featured in one of the segments of “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho.”

According to Annalyn, she spent a staycation in one of the hotels in Dubai. It was supposed to be a time to relax and unwind together with her co-workers and friends including a certain “George”, a Kenyan national.

Accidentally, George brought the shoes of Annalyn with him when he returned to his flat. It was then that the Filipina decided to go to George’s flat to collect her shoes.

When she was inside George’s flat, she asked to use the bathroom and he agreed. But Annalyn had to wait because someone was still inside.

But what she didn’t know was the fact that the girlfriend of George was starting to get jealous of her. The statement of Annalyn was also verified by Hans Leo Cacdac, OWWA secretary.

“In just a second, hindi ko namalayan, binubuhusan na ako ng asido,” Annalyn said. “Dito sa ulo ko. Nagfo-flow siya pababa ng mata ko, balikat ko, arms ko. And then, itong mga legs ko.”

After the incident, Annalyn suffered severe burns all over her body and even lost her eyesight. The incident turned her life upside down.

The attack was then identified as a fellow Kenyan. She is still in jail, serving her sentence for what she had done to the Filipina. After her sentence, she will be deported back to her country.
